I had the privilege of attending the Rabat American School from Pre-K to 12th grade, and after all these years, I wouldn’t change a thing. RAS was more than just a school—it was my second home, and the staff and students were like family. Not everyone looks back on their school years and genuinely misses them, but I do. I miss the Agdal campus, my teachers, and all the wonderful people I met. I miss the activities—AMIS Honors Choir, varsity basketball, track, MASAC tournaments (with Queen’s “We Are the Champions” blasting because, let’s face it, RAS IS THE BEST!), talent shows, community picnics, Halloween carnivals, Christmas concerts (especially the ones with Santa tossing mini candy canes), school plays, and trips. Above all, I miss how RAS made me feel—like anything was possible if I tried. RAS helped me discover my potential by encouraging me to try new things. The faculty always went above and beyond, guiding students through challenges and helping them succeed. I wasn’t a straight-A student—I had a mix of As, Bs, and the occasional C—but I always felt supported. My teachers believed in me and were always there to help. I vividly remember when I wanted to drop from IB HL English to SL because I didn’t feel confident. Instead of signing the slip, my teacher encouraged me to stay, helped me work through my insecurities, and pushed me to realize my potential. I ended up doing far better than I expected, and it was one of my proudest moments. Just a few days ago, I was reminiscing with a family member who’s currently a senior at RAS. I shared vivid memories of classes, teachers, events, and friends. She laughed and said, “I can’t believe you remember all of that.” But to me, it’s impossible to forget a place as special as RAS.
